The 15th annual Akron Wine Auction, offering over one hundred bottles of wine, will be held on June 12th.
For the first time since being established, the event will take place in the grand lobby of the Akron Art Museum. The evening’s itinerary includes two auctions — one silent and one live — as well as cocktails, dinner and an after-party gala. Patron tickets are $375 per person.
During the silent auction, which will take place before the 6:30 dinner, 120 bottles of wine will be available to view and bid on. Following dinner, the live auction will feature 20 rare wines. And what will people be drinking when deciding on which rare vintage to acquire?
Well, the featured winemakers of the evening, both from Napa Valley, are Burgees Cellars and Firestone Vineyard. Burgees Cellars, which will be providing the red wine for the evening, creates individual hand-crafted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Firestone Vineyard creates exceptional white wines, aptly described as “brightly flavored, crisp and delicious.”
What truly stands out about Firestone Vineyard wines is their focus on the physiological balance of the vines, much like the careful gastronomical attention gourmet chefs put into their produce. The dinner, which is catered by Cleveland’s Spice of Life, will be followed by the after-auction music and dancing gala held at the Akron Golf Charities Terrace.
